SiriuS Website Design
Web Standards
In a perfect world this page would not exist. All website designers would make their sites standards compliant.
Unfortunately this is not the case. Too many website designers don't know or - even worse - don't care about the web standards.
The good news for you is that we at SiriuS Website Design do care. All sites made by use comply with the web standards.
What are web standards and why are they important for me?
The most important web standards are being defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Over 450 organizations, among them Microsoft, Apple Computer, Sun Microsystems, to mention a few, are member of the W3C.
The W3C standards are a set of standards which are defined to assure a good accessibility of web pages, to make web pages cross browser compliant and make them easy to maintain, even by others than the original designers.
Standard compliant sites are also easy to access for search engines. This is the first, very important, step to get a good ranking in the search engines.
If you decide to have a website, you expect that any visitor, no matter which type of computer or web browser used, will be able to browse your site and use all the features.
All sites made by SiriuS Website Design are standards compliant and they are tested in different browsers before they are released on the web.
More information about the Web Standards and why they are important for you can be found in the Quality Assurance Section of the W3C website and in the FAQ Section of the Web Standards Project website.
How do I find out if a web page is standards compliant?
The W3C offers a free service on their website where anybody can validate any website against the standards. On the SiriuS Website Design web pages you find these buttons:
on every page (under the menu). If you click those buttons, you will be taken to the W3C validator and the actual test result for that page will be shown to you.
We offer a free service to potential clients to check the standards compliance of their existing website. The report we send you for free includes recommendations for fixing problems found during testing.
